Jesse Tree (December 13th)

December 13th

Symbol:

Elijah or a Stone Altar

Scripture Reading:

I Kings 17:1-16; 18:17-46

(You could read only chapter 18.  Chapter 17 sets up the scene and has the short, neat story of the widow’s oil!)

Main Ideas:

The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua, Samuel, David and Elijah truly is Master of the Universe!  Wow!!

Discussion Questions:

1.  What do you see of the attributes of God in these verses?  Is God OK with us serving Him AND other Gods (see verse 21)?

2.  When Elijah prayed that God would light the fire, what reasons did he give God to answer the prayer?  (Hint:  He said “that the people may know” 4 different things; see verses 36-37)

2.  Is there anything God cannot do?
